Vacation Haul Part 2: Walmart Finds I Didn’t Know I Needed

My Friends, welcome to Part 2 of my Vacation Haul — and this time, we’re talking about my Walmart finds!
While we were away on vacation, I did quite a bit of shopping. Some of it was because I actually needed things, and some of it was simply because I was shopping with family and, well… sometimes you just have to have a little fun! But I have to tell you something that sounds completely ridiculous. We were on vacation with 39°C weather. Yes… 39°C! That is HOT!
So naturally, I went shopping for sweaters and cardigans.
You’re probably thinking, Shelley, why on earth were you buying sweaters when it was 39 degrees outside?!
Well, My Friends… because it was absolutely FREEZING inside!
Everywhere we went, the air conditioning was turned up so cold that I felt like I was going to freeze to death. After enough shopping trips where I was practically shivering, I decided it was time to find some warm clothing.
And Walmart came through!

Light Tan Knit Cardigan — George

The first piece I picked up is this beautiful light tan knit sweater/cardigan from the George brand at Walmart.
This light tan colour is right in my Soft Autumn colour palette, so I already knew this was going to be an easy piece for me to wear.
It has these really pretty tortoiseshell-style buttons, which I think add such a nice little detail to an otherwise simple piece.
The knit itself is lightweight, which was actually perfect for those freezing indoor temperatures. And when I tell you this knit is soft… I mean SUPER soft!
I really, really love this one.
And because it is such a beautiful neutral light tan shade, it is one of those pieces that can go with just about anything.
Jeans? Absolutely.
Leggings? Of course.
Skirts? Yes!
And I can tell you right now… I wore this one a lot!
It was one of those vacation purchases that I knew I would get plenty of use from.

Light Tan Boxy Sweater — George

Next up is another piece in that same beautiful light tan colour, but this one has a completely different style.
This sweater has more of a raglan-style sleeve, a relaxed boxy fit, and a drawstring detail at the bottom.
I haven’t worn this one yet, but I am SO looking forward to styling it!
A boxy top like this can be a little tricky because of the relaxed shape. Generally, I find that boxy sweaters and tops look best when paired with something more fitted on the bottom, such as leggings or a slimmer pair of pants.
That creates a little more balance in the outfit.
And you know what that means…
A styling video is coming!
So keep your eyes open because I definitely want to show you how I style this one.
I love buying pieces that make me think, “Okay, how am I going to style this?”
Sometimes those end up being the most fun!

Charcoal Grey V-Neck Sweater — George

And last for today’s Walmart haul is this absolutely gorgeous charcoal-grey sweater.
This colour is also within my Soft Autumn colour palette.
Now, Soft Autumn doesn’t traditionally have a true black in its palette, and this beautiful charcoal-grey is about as close to black as I can comfortably get while still staying within those softer, muted tones.

BUT…

And this is important, My Friends!
Colour analysis is a guide, not a fashion prison.
If you love black, wear black!
If you love a colour that isn’t technically in your palette, wear it!
The “rules” are really there to help you understand which shades may flatter you the most, but ultimately, you should wear the colours that make you feel the best.
Now, back to this sweater…
It is SO soft.
Honestly, I can’t say it is my absolute favourite… but it is definitely way, way up there on my favourite list! Haha!
I love the V-neck style, too, because it gives me so many options for layering.
Imagine this with a pretty blouse underneath.
Or a turtleneck during the winter.
Even a crisp white shirt would look really pretty underneath it.
And, of course, it has those tortoiseshell-style buttons, which add another little touch of detail.
This is definitely going to be a versatile piece in my wardrobe.

Affordable Finds That Work With What You Already Own

My Friends, I really enjoyed this part of my vacation shopping because these are the kinds of pieces that I know I can actually wear over and over again.
They aren’t complicated.
They aren’t pieces that can only be worn one particular way.
They are simple, soft, comfortable and easy to mix and match with things I already have in my wardrobe.
And isn’t that what we really want?
Clothing that we LOVE wearing and that works with the pieces we already own!
Even though I bought these sweaters while shopping in the middle of a 39°C vacation, I know I’ll be reaching for them when the weather cools down — and even before that when I’m heading somewhere that has the air conditioning cranked up to Arctic temperatures! 😂
And My Friends, I am definitely not finished with my vacation haul yet!
I still have quite a few things to share with you from our trip, so stay tuned for more.
There are more finds coming your way!
